Lifelong Learning: ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ Α

£39.00Price

After careful research and consideration, the Greek School Wales Division of Lifelong Learning team  has selected the book "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ Α'" for its Beginners and Improvers Adult Classes.

The book is the first in a series of four books designed to prepare students for the Hellenic language proficiency exams organized by the Centre for the Greek Language (ΚΕΓ) and the Institute for Lifelong Adult Education (Ι.Δ.ΕΚ.Ε.).

This first book corresponds to the A1 and A2 levels of language proficiency. Each teaching unit focuses on specific grammatical phenomena and specialized thematic vocabulary, which are taught gradually, following the principles of teaching Greek as a second/foreign language. Special review sections include exercises similar to those given in the ΚΕΓ exams. The book is suitable for preparation classes, though it can also be used for self-study. Emphasis is placed on the parallel development of skills in understanding and producing both oral and written language. It is richly illustrated and particularly student-friendly. The book is accompanied by a CD, with the option of online listening to mp3 files.

It includes:

  • 20 illustrated teaching units
  • 2 CDs with 93 dialogues and listening exercises
  • 70 dialogues and 45 texts
  • 45 listening comprehension exercises, 25 functional reading comprehension exercises, and 21 phonological awareness exercises
  • 125 focused oral production activities, 32 role-playing games, 50 writing production activities, and dozens of structural exercises, spelling exercises, and idiomatic expressions
  • Plenty of authentic material excerpts (maps, signs, ads, bills, cards, lists, receipts, etc.)
  • 3 full preparation tests for the first-level Hellenic language proficiency exams
  • An appendix with the texts of the listening comprehension activities and the answers to the exercises

"I warmly congratulate the effort and success of the publication of the book 'Ελληνικά Α'. A method for learning Greek as a foreign language,' which I believe will become a valuable aid for those who wish to learn Greek." - Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania.
